What began in 2008 as an informal community of women physicians gathering across New Jersey has grown into a statewide organization of 600+ members spanning every specialty — from primary care to surgery, academic medicine to private practice. JWPA was formally established as a nonprofit in 2018.
JWPA supports women physicians at every stage of their career through mentorship, education, and advocacy. We create opportunities to connect across specialties, build leadership skills, and expand community impact across New Jersey.
Our flagship program, Teens With Stethoscopes (TWS), extends that mission to the next generation — giving high school students a window into the world of medicine through real physician mentorship, hands-on experiences, and career panels.

Dr. Sudha Nahar begins bringing together women physicians across New Jersey for informal meetups and peer community — the grassroots beginning of what would become JWPA.
JWPA hosts its inaugural Annual Women Physician Meetup & Celebration, bringing together women physicians from across New Jersey.
JWPA launches and hosts the first-ever Teens With Stethoscopes event, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM at the RWJUH Auditorium, Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center. A milestone day marking the birth of JWPA's flagship student immersion program.
